BIOGRAPHY
Huw Edwards is known to millions as presenter of Britain's most watched television news programme - the BBC Ten O'Clock News.
He's been hand-bagged by Margaret Thatcher in a Welsh barn, and silenced by an archbishop during a live broadcast to 250 million listeners. He was in Downing Street to see the Blairs arrive at Number Ten, and in Washington to see Barack Obama inaugurated. He has interviewed presidents, prime ministers and major figures in all areas of public life, including countless performers.
Huw combines his news duties with presenting major state events for the BBC like the State Opening of Parliament. He has made historical documentaries on Gladstone, Disraeli and Lloyd George, and the composers Mozart, Handel and Brahms. Huw is also passionate about the need to teach literacy and visits schools as ambassador for BBC News School Report.
Huw Edwards is a wonderful raconteur, with an easy humour after dinner and a sure hand hosting awards and chairing conferences. Where appropriate, he mixes behind-the-scenes anecdotes and broadcasting bloomers with thought-provoking content on how politics is reported.
